Poor web content attracts unwanted attention…from Google Panda

Over the past week Google began rolling out yet another algorithm update, this time in the form of Google Panda 4.2.

Google Panda is a Google algorithm that penalises websites that have duplicate and/or poor content. This roll-out will happen over several months and affect around 3% of organic search results.

What does this update mean?

The last Panda update (4.1) was in September 2014 and sites which were negatively affected by it, but have since made changes to improve their SEO, will see a benefit from this latest update in their organic search. Improvements may not be seen for a few months however.

This is not the case for websites still using poor practices and they will be hit with further Google penalties.

What can I do?

There are no quick and easy solutions to SEO anymore. A secure website with good quality and relevant content is the only way forward.

So make sure you at least have

– An SSL covering your checkout area

– Content on your website that is unique and relevant to the page (i.e. your own words – not a copy of the manufacturers information)
