We’re Number One…again!

pledgeteclan were proud to become an accredited Living Wage employer last November, the first such company in Inverness. Now, just short of 12 months, we are number one again, being the first Inverness business to make the Scottish Business Pledge.

The Scottish Business Pledge is a voluntary commitment made by companies across Scotland to uphold some of the best in modern business practices while embracing the principles of fairness, equality, opportunity and innovation.

Last month teclan made the Pledge, a values-led partnership between government and business, and Deputy First Minister John Swinney said: “I would like to congratulate teclan Digital Marketing on its decision to make the Scottish Business Pledge. It is the first business from Inverness to join what is a growing movement of progressive businesses and organisations with shared values and goals.

“As a leading digital marketing agency, the firm demonstrates the kind of innovative approach to business recognised by the Pledge – one that boosts productivity and creates inclusive growth,” he said.

Fergus Weir, teclan Managing Director added: “I am delighted that teclan was the first business in Inverness to make the Scottish Business Pledge. This Pledge is a commitment, by teclan and the Scottish Government, to all our employees, customers and suppliers that we will deliver the very best in standards and quality both in the digital marketing services we provide, and in how we are sustainably growing and developing our company for the future.”

The Scottish Business Pledge consists of nine action points that must be met, all geared to towards creating forward-thinking businesses and a stronger Scotland.

These include paying the Living Wage, not using zero hours contracts, supporting progressive workforce engagement, investing in youth, making progress on diversity and gender balance, committing to an innovation programme, pursuing international business opportunities, playing an active role in the community and committing to prompt bill payments.

teclan already fulfils the nine action points required of the Pledge and Fergus said: “To be the first in Inverness is a proud achievement, and one which acknowledges the high calibre of employees we recruit and train, their continued commitment to our customers and services and teclan’s own commitment to all of its employees.”
